The purpose of this website is for the training of Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) and for general Amateur Radio education and operations. A major portion of content on this website is from the nationalized certification for the ARES operations, in particular, the EmComm Level I Certification Course. The content is currently in PDF, text file, spreadsheet file formats. In the near future content will available in PodCast, and webinar formats. In the content I will be sprinkling in some little tricks to the trade material that I have gained / designed along the way.
Over the years of involvement in ARES operations I have served as Assistant Emergency Coordinator, Emergency Coordinator, and District Emergency Coordinator. I am currently holding the position of Assistant Section Emergency Coordinator for Training.
I’ve been involved with public events over the years as well. Public events like sporting as in marathons, triathlon, bike rides, and extreme sports events. Many of these events I was the communications coordinator.
I have been involved with the Washoe County Regional Emergency Operations Center (REOC) for the last ten years since that particular facility was opened. Which means that I have been involved with many of the multi-agency trainings and exercises, like Balloon Air Races exercise, Broken Wing Exercises, North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection exercises, and the Reno Air Races.
I have many years of experience as Net Control Station operator and Net Manager for several different nets over the years. I am currently the Net Manager for two different nets.
